Biography :

Dr. Ramavatar Meena has completed his PhD in 2008 from MK Bhavnagar University, Gujarat, India. He is the Senior Principal Scientist, CSIR-CSMCRI-Bhavnagar, & Professor, AcSIR-Academy of Scientific & Innovative Research, India. He has been awarded the prestigious Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC) in recognition of his contribution to the field of value addition of Indian Seaweed biomass using simple and green chemistry approaches. He has published more than 90 papers in prestigious jour­nals and 20 patents. He developed process technologies for commercially important seaweed products, which have been successfully transferred to more than thirty (30) industries for commercial production. He is recipient of several awards such as DST-SERC Fast Track Scheme for Young Scientists (2006); he was awarded the prestigious DST-BOYSCAST Fellowship in 2009 to carry out advanced research at Hamburg University, Hamburg, Germany; CSIR Award for S&T Innovations for Rural Development for the Year 2012; Associate Fellow Gujarat Science Academy; Life Member of IIMM; CSIR-CSMCRI Best Technology Award -2016 & 2018; IIMM outstanding Research Paper Award 2018; etc.

Abstract :

In general, environmentally friendly and energy-efficient processes is the present requirement of various indus­tries for sustainable development. My talk is an endeavour to provide the valued evidence on the role of solid/ heterogeneous catalysts in the green synthesis of desired chemicals for sustainable future. Green catalysts play a key role in the improvement of know-how to produce commercially important chemicals/products through simple and energy efficient processes. In view of these, this presentation will be briefed about the preparation of green catalysts, characterization and their smart uses in the industries for green synthesis.
